# STAIR-V1 — parked planning archive **Parked on 2026-09-28 at the user's request.** The ambitious stair robot was too costly. [V1-PROOF](../../v1-proof.md) is now the active model, with strictly under $1,000 new cash, smaller mass, fewer/smaller actuators and no stair requirement. These snapshots preserve the previous plan, including its uncertainties and superseded purchase claims. Their requirements, cost estimates, hardware classes and build gates do not apply to V1-PROOF. - [Project overview](project-readme.md) and [working notes](working-notes.md) - [Requirements R1–R44](requirements.md), [vision](vision.md), [mechanical](mechanical.md) - [Electronics](electronics.md), [minimum electronics](electronics-minimum.md), [software](software.md) - [Stair BOM](bom.md) and [checklists](checklists/README.md) Large/linked research artifacts remain at their established paths, visibly marked as parked: [head/leg audit](../../head-and-leg-review.md), [research packet](../../research/README.md), [numerical stair model](../../../tools/engineering/README.md), [H1 head layout](../../../cad/layouts/head-h1.svg), [old drawings](../../../tools/living-drawings/stairs.html) and [old sandbox](../../../tools/living-drawings/sim.html). Keeping those paths avoids breaking research references or touching downloaded vendor models. The old engineering publisher now writes its budget to this archive. It cannot overwrite the active proof budget. Original decisions remain dated in the shared [decision log](../../decisions.md). Reopening the stair project requires an explicit later scope decision; success on V1-PROOF does not imply stair capability or compatible hardware.
